This coming February 12, 2011, 9 Works Theatrical presents a “NEWER, FRESHER & BOLDER” RENT, bringing a modern and edgier version of the classic Giacomo Puccini opera “La Boheme” to life.
La Boheme, set in New York City’s East Village, tells the everlasting story of a group of Bohemian artists, who in the midst of poverty and hardship, used their talent and love for music to bring the universal message of hope to everyone. With his inspiring music and lyrics, the late Jonathan Larson brought life to this amazing tale of courageous teens, integrating the story’s essence into his famous rock musical opera.
RENT has been nominated for and has won numerous Tony Awards, one of which was of course, Best Musical of 1996. The musical has also received critical praise from other institutions - including the Pullitzer Prize for Drama, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.

Job Bautista as Angel Dummott Schunard, Collins’ drag queen street musician lover
Jenny Villegas as Joanne Jefferson, Maureen’s public interest lawyer lover
Lorenz Martinez as Benjamin Coffin III, a former member of the group who, after marrying a wealthy woman, has since become their greedy landlord.
Carla Guevara-Laforteza as Maureen Johnson, the larger-than-life performance artist who sings “Over the Moon”
Mian Dimacali (alternate) as Maureen Johnson
The rest of the ensemble is composed of Peachy Atilano, Harold Cruz, Johann dela Fuente, Pam Imperial, Gary Junsay, Anna Santamaria, Alys Serdenia, and Mark Tayag
Al Gatmaitan also joins the ensemble, and will play the role of Roger Davis in certain performances.
