The Risq Grand Summer Fashion Show will happen at the same time as Go Negosyo’s 3rd Women Entrepreneurship Summit and Expo.

RISQ is a search for the best student designers who will become the “New stars in summer lifestyle fashion”.

The competition is open to students of fashion design, fashion merchandising or fashion management programs who have a passion for creating stylish practical designs and understand the pulse of today’s fashion.

Contestants are challenged to take the risk of designing a complete wardrobe collection for men and women which consists of only 11 sets that sophisticated clients can take on a summer weekend holiday. It should be fashion forward, provocative, compact, and practical. The collection must be versatile enough to clothe the clients in style from morning ‘til evening - from the resort to the beach to the water.

The contestants will have a chance to work with experts to bring their vision to life. They shall undergo a mentoring session about styling, trends and retailing business with fashion industry experts such as Alcs Porras, Delby Bragais, and Hindy Tantoco, who will also serve as the panel of judges.

The competition shall culminate in a grand gala finale fashion show and awarding ceremony in front of a live audience comprised of local and international press, buyers, celebrities, fashion bloggers and VIPs. It will be held on March 4, 2011 at the World Trade Center Manila.

The winning designer will receive a whopping cash prize of One Hundred Fifty Thousand Pesos (P150,000) gift certificates from sponsors, a business start-up kit, a feature in a major broadsheet and a fashion magazine; he or she will also be given a chance to showcase the winning collection in a prominent shopping establishment (total value of prizes and details being finalized).

One of those breast cancer vicitm is Jenelyn Torrefiel- Bordon- a close friend of ours who have undergone mastectomy, chemo and radiation therapy, only to discover that the cancer has spread in her spine area. About 2 months ago, despite continues therapy; cancer has now spread to her liver. Despite that sad news, she still vows to continue fighting if only for her 2 young kids. She is now considering getting a non traditional cancer treatment in Guangzhou China under FUDA Cancer Hospital.

Another beneficiary this year is the Missionaries of Charity- an international religious family of pontifical right composed of active and contemplative branches with perpetual public vows of chastity, poverty, obedience, and wholehearted and free service to the poorest of the poor located at Varona, Tondo, Manila.
